In my last post, I talked about the importance of setting aside one hour a day for self-care. But what does self-care really look like for a mom? For the longest time, I thought it was impossible to do anything just for myself. Between the constant demands of motherhood and managing a household, I felt like there wasn’t any time left over.

But then I decided to commit to carving out that one hour a day. Let me tell you-this hour isn’t about things like showering, getting ready, or cleaning the house. Those are necessity, not self-care!

Instead, self-care is about doing something that fills your cup- something that helps you relax, recharge, or just reconnect with yourself. It could be as simple as picking up a new hobby, diving into that book you’ve been meaning to read, or even meditating.

For me, my one hour often involves coloring. There’s something so calming about repetitive yet low-stimulation tasks. My mind feels at ease as I bring the page to life with color. Lately, I’ve been thinking about trying cross- stitching for the same reason-there’s something so satisfying about those repetitive patterns.

Another thing I’ve found therapeutic is blogging! I know writing isn’t for everyone but for me, putting my thoughts into words feels like a release. It helps me process and reflect, which is exactly what I need during my self-care hour.

Whatever self-care looks like for you, the key is finding something that helps you slow down and focus on you. Maybe it’s yoga, crafting, journaling, or even just sitting in peace with your favorite cup of tea. The goal is to create a space for yourself in the midst of life’s chaos, because you deserve it.

I’m so proud of you for taking this step to prioritize yourself- it’s not easy, but it’s worth it. Remember, when you take care of yourself, you’re also taking care of your family in the best way possible. Keep it up, and let me know in the comments what your hour of self-care looks like. I’d love to hear how it’s working for you!
